The 14th Falconry Meeting brought together falconers from across the country on February 1st. The event, held at Smolyan Stadium, was organized by the Bulgarian Falconry Union and Smolyan Municipality.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Green Balkans team, along with supporters and volunteers from Trakia University – Stara Zagora, to present the Life for Falcons project to falconers and local residents. We shared insights about the project’s goals and the progress made so far.

The event also allowed us to engage with visitors on various conservation topics, such as the importance of birds of prey in nature, water and soil pollution, and deforestation.

Helping us introduce the project to the people of Smolyan was the Common Buzzard Harry.
