We celebrated 21st of May, Natura 2000 day with a birdwatching trek in Protected area Ponor. The area is within the territories which are part of the Life for Falcons project and it was a part of the nesting grounds of the Saker Falcon in the past decades.
During the trek we had a conversation about the significance of the network in the protection of the Bulgarian nature and the variety of species in Ponor. We watched and heard 20 different species songbirds and raptors amongst which Red-backed shrike, Common linnet, Еuropean robin, Corn crake, Common whitethroat, Short-toed snake eagle, and Montagu’s harrier, etc.
The trek was a part of the communications activities of the project, aimed at informing the general public with the Saker falcon and Natura 2000.
