This was confirmed by the team of the Life for Falcons project during their regular monitoring last week.
As part of their routine observations, the Green Balkans team, working on the Life for Falcons project, visited the habitats of the three known breeding pairs of Saker Falcons in Bulgaria.
Fortunately, despite bad weather and fog, the team managed to spot both birds from one of the pairs. They were observed in close proximity to their nest from last year, which strongly suggests that they, like their counterparts in the aviaries of the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Center, are actively preparing for the upcoming breeding season.
It is worth noting that the saker falcons at the Center began copulating as early as the beginning of the year. So far, three pairs have been actively mating, and we expect the remaining birds from our breeding flock to join them very soon.
