We are pleased to announce the Small Mammal Conservation Conference 2026, which will take place in the period of 21-st to 25-th of September 2026 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The conference will bring together researchers, conservation practitioners, policy experts, and students to share the latest scientific advances, conservation strategies, and practical experiences related to the study and protection of small mammals worldwide.
The scientific program will include keynote lectures, oral and poster sessions, and opportunities for networking and collaboration. We welcome abstracts for talks (15 minutes), speed talks (5 minutes) and posters from anyone involved in small mammal (mammals of importance for birds of prey) research or conservation. Topics will cover (but are not limited to): Hamster and souslik ecology and conservation, Renewable energy development, Impacts from agriculture, Reintroductions and management in changing ecosystems, Predator–prey interactions, Innovative and emerging methodologies
Set against the cultural and natural richness of Sofia and its surroundings, the conference will also offer social events and excursion to foster informal exchange and collaboration and to visit a colony of European Souslik (Spermophilus citellus).
