Which birds cross the skies above Sveshtari during seasonal migrations, and how can we identify them? These and other questions were at the heart of an event organised on 10 October by the team of the “Life for the Saker Falcon” project, in partnership with the Historical Museum in Isperih, to mark World Migratory Bird Day.
The event took place at the visitor centre of the Thracian Tomb of Sveshtari. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about the remarkable journeys of migratory birds, the species that can be observed in the area, and the importance of the places they depend on for their survival along their long journeys.

Migration is one of the most remarkable phenomena in the lives of birds. To travel thousands of kilometres, they rely on suitable places to rest and feed along the way. Protecting these habitats is an essential part of efforts to conserve wild birds.

The event is part of the awareness-raising activities of the “Life for the Saker Falcon” project, through which the team encourages interest in birds and promotes the engagement of local communities in their conservation.
