Life for Falcons project was presented at the seminar of the hunting and fishing union Razgrad

Hunting and fishing union Razgrad hosted a meeting with the team of the Life for Falcons project on 22nd of November. The first presentation of the project in front of the hunters community was a month ago in Stara Zagora and it aroused great interest.

Hunting and fishing union Razgrad hosted a meeting with the team of the Life for Falcons project on 22nd of November. The first presentation of the project in front of the hunters community was a month ago in Stara Zagora and it aroused great interest.

Union of hunters and anglers in Bulgaria is one of the partners in the project. Its representatives Maria Kubadinska and Ljubomir Stefanov were invited to participate in the second seminar with the members of the hunting unions from Razgrad rea – HFU Razgrad, HFU Shumen, HFU Zavet, HFU Popovo and HFU Kubrat. More than 80 people took part in the presentation, of which 60 were members of the local unions.

During the first part the partners of the project from UHAB, BSPB and Green Balkans presented its activities. As per usual Green Balkans team met everyone with the famous Saker Falcon Romeo.

During the seminar were presented the key threats to the protected and hunting species and suggestions for how to address them. We have presented the BSPB activities against using poisons and share our experience with the hunters as well as regarding the problems with the intensive agriculture and poaching. Green Balkans presented the challenges in regards with the restoration and reintroduction of the Saker Falcon within their breeding program. 
The participants actively engaged in the following dussccussion. The chairman of the HFU Shumen Stoyan Stoyanov which is a part of theNHFU board told the participants some interesting facts and made useful suggestions.

He initiated active involvement of the whole public and conversations lasted more than an hour and after that they continued in an informal setting. The excellent organization by the hosts Pencho Penchev and Maria Miteva made the meeting even more fruitful.
