Dimitar Gradinarov from BSPB and Ivaylo Klisurov from Green Balkans took part in the training, organized by WWF-Bulgaria and the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria on the Identification and investigation of wildlife crimes. Case studies. The training is part of the spring academy of the Association and WWF-Bulgaria. Over 40 prosecutors and participants in the Wildlife Crime Academy which was held in Malaga, Spain in April took part in the training.
The experts of the LIFE for Falcons project presented different case studies including international trafficking of protected species and cases of illegal poisoninig and poaching of protected species in Bulgaria.
Besides the lively discussions of these cases proposals for changes in the legislation presented by the lawyer Emilia Toncheva excited considerable interest amongst the participants.
The training is part of the project Successful Wildlife Crime Prosecution in Europe co-funded by LIFE programme and implemented in 11 countries – Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, Ukraine and Hungary. The project brings together the efforts of the NGOs and institutions aiming to contribute to the number of the successfully investigated wildlife crimes.
